What is a Sharpening Session?

A Sharpening Session is a structured, peer-led conversation built around a focused topic. A Group Session Leader guides the discussion, protects the structure, and creates space for veterans to engage honestly and sharpen one another through perspective, experience, and accountability.

How long is a Sharpening Session?

No Sharpening Session may exceed 60 minutes total. The 60-minute limit includes the structured session, participant questions, post-session discussion, and any informal conversation afterward.

How many people are in a Sharpening Session?

Each session has a maximum of 8 participant seats. The Group Session Leader does not count as one of the 8 participant seats.

Are Sharpening Sessions virtual or in person?

Who leads the sessions?

Sharpening Sessions are guided by Group Session Leaders, or GSLs. A GSL is a veteran who guides the discussion, protects the structure of the session, and helps create an honest and respectful environment. A GSL is not acting as a therapist, counselor, clinician, coach, or expert.

Do I have to attend every session?

No. Sharpening Sessions are standalone conversations, not a sequential course. Members choose and reserve the sessions they want to attend.

What if I need to cancel a reservation?

You can cancel an upcoming reservation through your Member Dashboard. When a reservation is cancelled, the seat becomes available again for another member.

Can I become a Group Session Leader?

Members may express interest through the Group Session Leaders page. Interest does not guarantee authorization, training, selection, or a session assignment.

How do I join my Zoom session?

After reserving a seat, your upcoming session appears in your Member Dashboard. Your session card includes the Zoom link for the scheduled Sharpening Session.
